The resistive load bank will allow generators of both generator sets and other systems to be fully tested by emulating a real load with unit power factor. In addition, we have inductive and capacitive load banks to simulate other types of loads and applications.

The kWs of a resistive load bank are "real" power in electrical terms. When an AC resistive load bank is used to test an engine generator set, the engine will produce its full rated power, dissipate the exhaust gases from the engine, and produce thermal energy in the engine cooling system. The load bank will test the generator set on its various systems.
It is important to understand that the generator or power system will not be charged at its nominal capacity in full kVA. Resistive load banks use resistors that only provide a load of kW at a power factor of 1.0 (unit).
